Korankei River Valley (Aichi)

Korankei is a river valley located in Toyota city, Aichi prefecture, especially well known as a viewing site of autumn leaves.
Taigetsu-kyo, a vermilion lacquered bridge over Tomoe River.  It's said to be a symbol of Korankei.

The stone plate says Sanei-zenji, a priest of Kojakuji temple, began to plant maple trees along Tomoe River around in 1634.

Kojakuji temple, built at the former site of the Asuke clan residence on Mt.Imoriyama, is a temple of the Soto sect of Zen Budism.

Sanshu- Asuke-Yashiki reproducing an old farmhouse, is a tourist facility like a local folk museum.




The traditional works in this area (charcoal making, woodwork, paper making, weaver, etc) are demonstrated here.





Asuke-Hachiman Shrine        Its main hall is designated as an important cultural property in Japan.
