Imari ware in Ohkawachiyama (Saga)

Ohkawachiyama, located in Imari city, Saga prefecture, is a porcelain manufacturing site of Imari-yaki or Nabeshima-yaki through present day.
There are more than thirty kilns along a stone-paved slope path called 'Nabeshima-hanyo-zaka' .

A lot of porcelain stalls are lined up along a path.

The gallery of Kosen-gama, a Imari-yaki producer.  A variety of porcelains are exhibited and sold.

Sekisho, a barrier station, was setup to prevent porcelain skills leak at Nabeshima era.

Something like bells on the other side of the bridge is called 'Meotoshi-no-To' or a tower of Meotoshi.
 'Meotoshi' means a skill for sorting porcelain by a tapping tone.

Ohkawachiyama as seen from Tenbo Park.   This area is designated a National Historic Site as Nabeshima Kiln Ruins.


 Ohkawachiyama, surrounded with steep mountains on the three sides, has an atmosphere like a landscape painting.


 Mt.Seira at 618m above sea level

Mt.Seira and a brick chimney written with '青山窯, Seizan-gama'.  It's a popular photo spot in Ohkawachyama.
